Seikilos Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 In designer 1 I distinctly remember that colours had a noise slider. When I check the colour tab, there is only opacity: Is there a way to get noise back? It was actually quite nice to use. Also: Why does gradient still have the noise slider? It makes a very strange use case IMHO. I did a search but could not get a hold on whether it has been moved or deprecated or something in between. Quote Affinity User on Windows 11

P.S. https://affinity.help/designer/English.lproj/pages/Panels/clrPanel.html Thanks for more details! But one has to admit, that in the first screenshot of mine, there are actually two circles, the selected value circle and the "fancy" noise/opacity switcher, that makes it less intuitive. Edit: Also searching for noise keeps bringing me results for affinity photo in the affinity help site Quote Affinity User on Windows 11

Because Opacity is set directly in the dialog, so there is no need to switch it with noise. The reason for the Opacity/Noise toggle is obviously to compress the panel to save space. However, it could be solved in a more user-readable way, for example by using a tab with a description of both items (Opacity + Noise). In this way, if the user does not know it, he has no idea why he should click on a dot under Opacity. Or if there were at least two points/circle (something like foreground and background color) - one partially transparent, and the other noisy. For example: P.S. I don't know if it's a bug that the Opacity slider doesn't show the selected color like the Noise slider does. By the way, in the Color panel (which you first asked about), V1 and V2 work exactly the same way. Bit Disappointed Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 8 hours ago, Seikilos said: Also: Affinity Team: What the heck of a usability thing is this?! It is bad usability: RTFM with no visible hints or nudging in the user interface whatsoever and with no relation between noise and transparency whatsoever impossible to predict. Switch as a tooltip is certainly also not great. I wonder how many customers that never discover noise. Quote I simply no longer believe that there are any professional graphic designers here. Everything follows suit. Just everything.
