bobdobbs Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 I want to create images for use on the web. At the moment I can export to png, then re-import the image into GIMP or another application in order to use the capacity of those applications to compress the image filesize. Can image compression for the web be done within Designer 2? Quote

PNG export options in Affinity are rather mediocre. Hence the above app to the rescue. Also make sure to preview your layout as pixels to avoid antialiasing. Align everything to integer pixels as far as possible. JPEG compression in Affinity is pretty good though. Depending on source and intended size and usage, you'll have to experiment with the various resample algorithms. My "general" preset for small file sizes with low amount of artifacts is Bicubic, quality 60, progressive.
