five3141two Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Hi there, I am working on different afpub files, but they have similar content. There are always terms that I want to add to the index in different places in several files. An export function for the topics would be helpful so that I don't have to synchronise each file manually. Is there a way to export the list of topics and import it into another file? Or for books: to define a master similar to the textstyles, which distributes all topics to the chapters of all files in a book? Thank you for your feedback. MikeTO Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Hi Stefan, the only way to copy index topics from document A to document B is to copy all the text in A and paste it into a temporary frame in B. If you don't want to import the text styles you can use Paste Without Format which unlike some other apps will paste the unformatted text with the index marks. Once you've pasted it you can delete the text or the temporary frame. If there are multiple stories in document A then you'll have to repeat this for each story. Note that this will only copy topics that have reference marks - topics without marks can't be copied this way. Perhaps you could copy them by adding pages from document A to B but I didn't test that. This isn't an issue for books because index topics are synced across chapters. five3141two Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 Thanks Mike, I hadn't realised that the topics are automatically synchronised in books. Thanks for the hint. I'll have a look right away. Cheers Stefan Quote Stefan (five3141two) V2 Universal Licence Mac mini (2018) | MacBook Air M1, 2020
