wxman2 Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 First post here, so I hope this is the correct place. My son has a banner image he wants to use on a new website. He wants to know if it's possible to make that image he made, that's just a colorful, graphical version of the name of the site, and make it look like a cloth banner hanging on a curtain rod. I read through a bunch of ideas here, but I'm either not good enough yet, or looking at the wrong ones, because nothing I made matched what he was describing. I'll attach a small version of his original. Thanks for the help. Quote
NotMyFault Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 A very quick way: add a ripple life distortion filter, with 2-3% strength add the image of a flag / curtain, experiment with blend mode for more realistic look, you may experiment with mesh distortion, or liquify persona. in essence, you need to combine 3-4 effects: adding textile texture distortion of texture Dodge and burn / lightning blur to simulate (out of) focus Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. wxman2 Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 Thanks I'll give that a try tomorrow. I think that's kind of what he's looking for. I'm still learning the program in general so I don't have the greatest confidence in myself. Quote

I see the Ripple filter, but not 'life distortion filter'. When I set the Ripple to 3%, it shows almost no change. I also need to get my hands on some textures I can add. Quote

A tab for Live Filters can be found at the bottom of the Layers Panel. Or they can be accessed from the Menubar in Photo: Layers > New Live Filter Layer (and in this case) > Distort > Ripple… or Mesh Warp… But I rather like the idea of a Life Distortion filter! Actually that may just be beer!
