Hi,
Since a week Affinity publisher will not open a file and will also not create a new file. It only opens the application, further nothing happens.
I've already reinstalled Publisher but that also did not work. So how can we solve the problem?
I'm using the software on a macbook. Today I updated my MacOs to Sonoma 14.1.1 but the problem remains te same.
Kind regards Aniek

Hi @Aniek and welcome to the forums,

You could try clearing your user defaults by holding down the Ctrl Key while launching Publisher. When you see the 'Clear User Data' window, leave the first three options checked and then click 'Clear' and let Publisher finish launching and see whether that fixes the issue for you.

Note: Any UI customisation you may have previously made will be reset back to the factory defaults...

If that doesn't work could you perhaps upload a sample Publisher document that won't open so we can check there are no issues with the file itself...

Hi Aniek,

If the above steps don't solve this for you please could you try opening the app without opening a file and then navigate to the apps preferences and try disabling metal compute via the performance section to see if this helps at all?

Thanks
C

Hi @Aniek,

Out of interest, which option resolved the issue, disabling Metal compute or a factory reset... it may be helpful to know for others who experience the same issue and happen upon this thread...

Hi @Hangman,

This part
"You could try clearing your user defaults by holding down the Ctrl Key while launching Publisher. When you see the 'Clear User Data' window, leave the first three options checked and then click 'Clear' and let Publisher finish launching and see whether that fixes the issue for you."
Altough the first three boxes were already checked and the others were not, it worked
