Thank you Mike and Dan for your prompt attention to my previous post.  Your help was very much appreciated.

Unfortunately, I was still having problems so I phoned Apple Support twice.  They were extremely helpful and devoted a lot of time and effort trying to help me.The second time I phoned Apple Support, I was directed to an Apple Community Site and I was told that Affinity Photo does work with my operating system.  (Sonoma 14.1.1) and  Serif will have to update Affinity Photo.

Sonoma 14.1.1 was released October 15, 2023.

I am looking forward to the Affinity update and working with the program that has given me so much enjoyment over the years.

This seems to be a follow-on from:

I can confirm that Photo 2.2.1 works on my copy of macOS Sonoma 14.1.1.

I don't think you've ever provided any details of what problem you're having.

Thank you Walt.  I am using a Mac Studio 2022:  Chip: Apple M1 Ultra:  macOS Sonoma 14.1.1.

This might be due to the area of the world I live in.

Can you tell me which area of the world you are living in?

I was definitely told by the Mac Support, in my area of the world, that Affinity Photo is no longer supported where I live.

Thank you once again.

Thank you very much Walt.

I'm in Canada.

I keep detailed notes of all my calls to Apple USA  and they have been extremely helpful and kind.

You may know that Canada has new laws for internet use. Never did I think I would be told by Apple Canada that these laws would apply to Affinity programs.

To outline these problems at the moment would be a poor use of your time until I can contact Apple USA.

Walt, I can't thank you enough for responding to my post.

Hi Bruce, I'm in Canada, too. Affinity Photo 2.2.1 works on Sonoma. If you were given information to the contrary by Apple then Apple is wrong. Also, the new Canadian internet legislation has nothing to do with applications such as Affinity.

Can you please describe the problem you are having? If you can't describe the problem then nobody will be able to help you.

Thank you Walt  and Mike for looking at my post.

When I phoned Apple Support  this morning (1 - 800 - 692 - 7753 ) I was greeted with this response «we have a special offer for anyone over 50 years of age.» Then I hung up immediately»  I phoned several times and got the same response.  Each time I hung up.  After several tries I was greeted with this response  «the number has been changed, if you want the new number…» and I then I hung up again.

I asked a friend to phone the number above.  He said he had the same response.  ( We have a special offer etc. )

This is definitely not the usual computer voice that normally greets me when phoning Apple Support.

Apple support USA did take a look at the screen shot that I received in French from Google, but the person could not tell me whether it was authentic because I had put the original in the Junk and then deleted the Junk.

Have any other Affinity users in Canada tried to phone Apple Support USA and were they greeted in the usual way?

If you succeed in reaching them, would you ask Apple Support if what I have described in this post is normal?  I don't think it is.

Thank you again.  I very much appreciate any help you can provide.

That number (now corrected by a moderator) was not Apple's phone number and a quick google search shows that it was a scam number.

I suggest you visit Apple's website and use the phone numbers provided there: https://www.apple.com/ca/contact/

You still haven't described any problems that you're experiencing with Affinity.

I was cut off in mid sentence. It was my fault entirely.

If it didn’t get through, here is a summary.

I’m sorry Mike.  You are correct.  The number I quoted above should have ended in a 3, not a 2.  I’m very sorry.

However this does not entirely solve my issue.  I was told the following Information by Apple Canada, or at least I thought it was, perhaps it was a sc…….

I almost said that word again and someone placed that word on the internet, with, my name and post attached.

 Thanks.

The First thing, The very very first thing you should explain to people (especially really old people like myself)  is that this forum may place a link to your post with your name and it may or may not be posted on the internet with your name and post attached.  In other words, what you write may not be private.

Here is one of the sites I was directed to by ( I think ? no one can be really sure ) Apple Canada.  It may have been a sc……  However, notice the first entry Mike.

Problem with affinity photo app after updating to sonoma14.0

Posted October 14, 2023

Yes I’m aware that is not the operating system in question but the date stood out because it was around that time when another of Apple’s senior advisors (Apple USA) walked me through the steps of my problem by screen sharing.  She said the program was not working correctly and she gave time and patience to correct it.  But that was a month ago!  October 22, 2023.    That was around the time when I noticed problems so naturally it stood out.

Here is one for you Mike.  An Apple Community. Is it authentic? …who knows but it certainly is interesting to me personally.

I’m off to bed now. I made a mistake.  Thank you for your help.  I’m very interested to see how all this unfolds.

Thanks, but is that the problem you are having with the Affinity applications?

If you are having a problem with the Affinity applications, why are you not describing it for us?
