StrixCZ Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Hi, can you please add an option to show a currently open document as the window title instead of just program name? I always have Windows taskbar titles on as I'm using them as a kind of reminder what am I working on at the moment - so I find it very inconvenient to only see "Affinity Publisher 2" as a title when I actually have a document open. I need the title to be "DocumentXY - Affinity Publisher 2" and I was really surprised to not find such a basic option (IMHO) in the Settings (or did I actually miss it?). Thank you in advance! Quote
GarryP Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Just to make this request a bit clearer, would you be able to give a visual example of where/how you would want the title of the document to be shown? (You can demonstrate it by showing what another application does – with perhaps a screenshot – if that’s easier than making a mock-up.) Quote
Twolane Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Here's my suggestion, but where would this go? My title bar for Win Photo currently contains the menus, from File to Help. Would this appear on the image that is opened in the work area? I know I'm always looking there to see if I've modified an image before I save and close, so that could possibly be a location. If that's the case, the program name wouldn't be a necessity - or, perhaps at all. If I don't know what program I'm in, I've got bigger problems. Edited to add that I'm in favor of the file location (minus program name) appearing on the images in the work area. There will probably be some that say "it's not big enough" when one has multiple images open. Personally, I'll live with it, or spread my images all over my desktop if it's that badly needed. Or, would it be possible to do a mouse-over to show an expanded file location where the image name is currently located? (Obvi I don't use a tablet.) Twolane Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Perfect! But I've never actually felt the need to do a mouseover to discover where my active files are located. StrixCZ is the one that needs to be made aware. Quote 1) MacBook M3 Pro 18/512 - Now my daily driver. 2) I liked it so much I added an M4 Air. Pšenda Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 The truth is that displaying the "Affinity Designer 2" information, given the icon of the application known to most users, is not very informative. But even the display of the file name - due to its length, or even to the display of the entire path (as is often requested here on the forum), does not fit into the short title of the task bar. Even so, it will tell a lot about what document is being worked on, regardless of the fact that it is possible to use a tooltip in which the full name of the document is displayed.
