dieterdreist Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I always wondered why it is not possible to copy layer effects (and paste them to other layers). As a workaround you can sometimes make a style template, but it seems overkill and is only possible if all other properties should be the same as well, so I am typically finding myself copying the settings manually. Or maybe I missed something and it is possible? Quote
carl123 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 There is a Paste FX option in the Edit menu moronic designer and dieterdreist 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. dieterdreist Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 whoa, great! I literally just upgraded from v1 and had not have the time to see everything. I was trying to right click on effects and layers but it wasn't in the context menu (which admittedly is already super long) Quote
carl123 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 It was also there in V1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. dieterdreist Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 thank you, I wasn't sure and couldn't check because I already removed v1 Quote
Martyn Folkes Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 I am having trouble with this. I have applied a 3D effect to some artistic text. I have copied the text but when I select the text to which I want the effect applied, the Paste FX option is greyed out. I am clearly doing it wrong. I can't find specific instructions in the help. Just select the text layer which has the effect(s) in the Layers panel and hit Command/Control + C to copy the layer. Now select the layer you want to apply the effect(s) to and use the Edit > Paste FX. Do not select the text with the text caret, the text does not have the effect applied to it. The Text Frame has the effect applied to its contents. Martyn Folkes Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Thanks @Old Bruce. I was selecting the text, not the text frame. Old Bruce 1 Quote Affinity latest stable version + beta on Windows 11
Martyn Folkes Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 The help page is here: https://affinity.help/designer/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/ObjectControl/pasteStyle.html&title=Paste Style and FX This page does not seem to be available via Search or Contents in the Affinity Help. I found it with a Google search. I can't find it in the On Board Help either. Quote Affinity latest stable version + beta on Windows 11
Martyn Folkes Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 I've found you can also drag the FX (Toggle layer effects) indicator on the layer you want to copy the effects from, to the layer you want to paste the effects to. moronic designer 1 Quote Affinity latest stable version + beta on Windows 11
