christerdk Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I bake sourdough bread and post photos of my results online. Today I was inspired by this menu and thought it could be great to add some new background color to my photos. Here’s what I would to with my current knowledge: import the bread photo Make a selection of the bread Mask away everything but the bread add new layer below bread layer change new layer to desired color make new drop shadow Is there a smarter and more efficient way? GarryP Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Without knowing what the background looks like compared to the foreground it’s very difficult to give specific advice. If you can upload an example of a photo – so we can see the background you want to remove in relation to the foreground object – someone should be able to advise further, for that particular photo at least. Note: Simply adding a different background to a photo may not leave it looking realistic since a photo taken of something with a close-by coloured background will often cause the foreground to take on some of the colour of the background (do a web search for ambient light to find out more). christerdk Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 Hi @GarryP Thanks for the response - for some reason I didn't get a notification, so I didn't see it until now. I've rephrased the question and included an example, in the post below. Would be very interested in your input. Thanks! Quote
