Deadeyedoc Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 I have just started trying to use Affinity Photo again, having got frustrated with trying to get the basics of operating V1. I now have V2 and cannot even get an image to import! The import box does not appear, as is shown on James' video. If I try to import using the 'file' dropdown menu then there are 'no devices recognised'. Not an encouraging start. The only possible thing I can think of is that the start up page says that it is licensed to an old email address. If this is the problem how do I resolve it? I am on a Macbook pro running Big Sur. "Import" more often means File > Place, I think. But it's imprecise enough that it's better to say exactly what function you're trying to use Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Deadeyedoc Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Yes you are right, it was file>'acquire image' in my version and it still shows devices 0 and shared 0. I have since found a way to get an image into the app. When V2 opens the 'account page opens'. On the left sidebar there is an 'open' icon. From there I can navigate to 'users' on the Mac and from there select an image, which does appear in AP. When I then go to file> open I can then navigate to where on the Mac my next image is located. What I cannot understand is why it does not open in 'new document' as is shown in the dropdown quickstart page or the getting started video. Thanks for getting me to look again. Started at least! walt.farrell Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Acquire Image is for using a physical scanner. It sounds like you don't have one, so you would want New or Open or Recent, which are pretty standard File menu actions for most applications that I've seen. 18 minutes ago, Deadeyedoc said: What I cannot understand is why it does not open in 'new document' as is shown in the dropdown quickstart page That initial dialog "starts" in whichever option you last used (New, Recent, etc.) but it should be on New the first time you use the application.
