Data Merge Image URL's not working

We're using a central system where all the product information (PIM) is stored. I can export a csv/json file with the needed product info but all the image files are stored online how do I get this to work with data merge?

You would need the complete file path in the csv file. something like this

mummy.csv

One image, one record.

I would expect you will need a very fast internet connection to generate the catalog.
