weegiegrum Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 I'm not sure how to explain this properly, but what I'm trying to do is create a separator between paragraphs or sections, like: + + + or *** but using a simple line-art image of my choice. I want to be able to create a style that will automatically insert it with correct sizing, leading, etc., without having to manually add a picture frame, insert the image, set the frame wrapping etc., as they tend to drift around when the text is formatted, even when an anchor is attached to the nearest bit of text. I know how to do this with Wingdings, webings and so on, but is it possible to use an image? MikeTO Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 You can't define an image as part of paragraph formatting or text styles. Why not just use an inline image? There's no need for a picture frame and while floating images will "drift around" an inline image will not. Old Bruce Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 You could try playing about with Copy the picture and Paste it into the text. Works for me if I have the image the appropriate size to start with. Set up a Paragraph Style called A Break and set the Spacing to appropriate values and see what happens. weegiegrum 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

That's a good tip - I'll try playing around with that and see if I can get it working. Thanks both! thomaso Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Another option might be to create a font of your "simple line-art image". It appears Affinity supports such unless it's a colour font. https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/87018/create-font-using-png-files https://fontello.com/ For further needs you could ad your vote to a feature request like this: Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
