Corners of rectangle is capped when shape is sheared

I can't get this rectangle to retain its corners solid (two corners are getting capped off). Doesn't matter if I convert rectangle to curves either. This happens in Designer 2.2.1 and Photo 2.2.1

Is there a reason for this behaviour other than a bug?

Try increasing the Miter setting from 1.5 to 2 in the Stroke panel.

thanks for the help, set it to 2 and it works better now - however it still caps off the corners a little further out. noticed i had to set Miter as high as 5 to prevent this issue when really shearing the object a long way.

is this expected behaviour?

Expected? No. But that is how the corner is designed to work. This is one of those things which we need to know how it works in order to have our expectations become correct.
