fromatoz Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Hi I tried hard but cannot figure out this simple task. I'd like to make the left and right of the rectangle (thick bar) follow the shape of the circle. Any hint how to achieve this would be very much appreciated. Thank you! Quote
kaffeeundsalz Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Just nest the rectangle inside the circle – done. Quote
fromatoz Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 wow, i can't believe it ... i knew it's a super simple thing but couldn't find the right way to do it. thank you, kaffeeundsalz! greetings from zurich Quote
R C-R Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Note that the nesting method doesn't actually change the shape of the rectangle. If you need to do that, one way is to duplicate the circle, move it below the original circle & rectangle, select the original circle & rectangle, & use the Boolean Intersect operation. That will destructively change the rectangle to a curve. Since this destroys the original circle, you need to duplicate it before doing the intersect. In AD V2 there is a simpler & more elegant way to do that using the new Shape Builder Tool. fromatoz Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 hi r-c-r just stumbled upon your reply now. i wasn't aware of the fact that the nesting doesn't change the shape. that's good to know, thanks! Quote
