Hi
I tried hard but cannot figure out this simple task. I'd like to make the left and right of the rectangle (thick bar) follow the shape of the circle.
Any hint how to achieve this would be very much appreciated.

Note that the nesting method doesn't actually change the shape of the rectangle. If you need to do that, one way is to duplicate the circle, move it below the original circle & rectangle, select the original circle & rectangle, & use the Boolean Intersect operation. That will destructively change the rectangle to a curve. Since this destroys the original circle, you need to duplicate it before doing the intersect.

In AD V2 there is a simpler & more elegant way to do that using the new Shape Builder Tool.
