I keep getting an error message importing brushes but designer does not specify what the error is exactly, so I don't know what to do even I work in cybersecurity, and I know IT. The team should consider adding more information to the error messages so people that know IT can know better what to do when getting error messages like this as it is very frustrating for me.

hi @Dan C

can I get a dropbox link? For some reason It works for other people but not for me. It is the box set by wren. There are some screen recordings there to look at to show you what is frustrating for me.

If you are seeing errors that others cannot replicate after unzipping files on your PC, this may indicate an issue with the current user account - rather than an issue with the Affinity app - however your feedback would still be applicable, as I understand you're requesting more verbose information to be provided in Affinity, where possible :)

Hi @Dan C they are uploaded. Designer tells me that it can't import these brushes from my desktop with the file path in the message.

Which of the several methods of importing brushes are you using? Have you tried the others?

Thanks for providing these for me!

All 4 of the .afbrushes files provided also fail when trying to Import through any method.
I believe the specific reason for this is that the files are missing data, which can be shown when inspecting these files in a HEX editor(indicated by the 0's):

However I do agree that the Affinity app could perhaps be clearer in regards to the reason for the failure to import, if the app is able to determine this. I will be logging this as an improvement request with our developers now.
______

Interestingly, the PNG files uploaded alongside the .afbrushes files are also corrupted, only the first segment of each image can be displayed, with clear corruption occurring at the edge of the displayed image:

It would seem that these corruption errors occur for all files in the folders uploaded, and would corroborate that this indicates an issue with your local user account/PC - rather than the Affinity apps or brush files.

I hope this clears things up!
