Hello All.

Using APv2 on Mac OS Sonoma.

I've set a 512pp novel. however, preflight indicates overflow text on p53 (it appears to be the whole original text)

How can I delete all the overflow text in 1 hit, rather than having to highlight/delete sections at a time. Or can I leave this overflow text in place and forget about it?

And another question: In the document, there are a number of unlinked pages, how can I link these, or again, can I leave as is?

Screenshot showing the offending text below p53.

Any thoughts would be marvellous.

Regards.

Billio.

To delete all overflowing text, you just need to select to the end of the story. The default shortcut is Shift + Cmd + End on Mac, or Shift + Ctrl + End on Windows. If you don't have an End key on your keyboard (such as on the non-extended macOS keyboards), change the shortcut using Affinity Publisher 2 > Settings, click Shortcuts on the left, and choose the Text Input shortcuts list. Edit Select Story End.

I can't say whether you should or should not link your unlinked frames, it depends what it is in them, but to link them just click the text flow out control on the right side toward the bottom. It will be red if the text is overflowing. Then click anywhere on the frame you want to link to.

If this frame contains the whole story (for all 512 pp / or entire chapter file) it seems to indicate that you copied a text frame or page that contained the story already or/and was a part of the text flow. – From this perspective (if it's true) your next question may become more important …

… because it may indicate that the story is more than once or twice in your document and more than 1 frame is affected from the issue. That means it may get confusing and complicated to fix it without overseeing any duplicated text or a possibly deleted / missing part.

It could be worth to delete all pages unless p1 of the story (or chapter / or text flow) and let it auto-flow once more from scratch. This could avoid any overflow & any unlinked text frames.

Hello and thanks for your advice. I'll do it and see what happens.

The unlinked pages should be linked as they are part of the whole novel. I'll proceed without linking and see what happens.
