kirk23 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Something like Expression had decades ago or Xara . A brush constructed from selected group of objects with option to deform them along the brush vector and alternate , or just scatter with random offset. That text along a path option is so much of a pain. Quote
2ddpainter Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 @kirk23 in the meantime, it could be that you would be happy with "VectorStyler". Which offers vector Pattern Brush, Scatter Brush, Brush construct of grouped vector Objects. Brush creation even with Blend of two ore more Objects if you group the Blend Result. Take a look at the Tutorial from their Forum which i recommend in this Post. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/193688-real-vector-brush-for-paint-in-vector/#comment-1137552 btw. i know "Expression" and "Xara" too Quote

I tried Vector styler briefly specifically to figure out if it can do it and haven't found any of this. Now my trial is off. So would be appreciated if you answer a few questions: 1.Can scattered objects be easily replaced? For example bitmap representing color to ones representing normal map ? All the same at once staying in same scale? 2.Does it work in 16 bit per channel? For bitmaps or vectors representing height? Like Affinity Designer/photo? 3. Xara was super speedy and quick with lots of bitmap content. Does Styler feels comfortable with bitmaps? Pity Xara 5 I have ( the best one I think) is crashy as hell on win10 now while still very speedy and responsive. Not supporting 16 bit height unfortunately. Quote
2ddpainter Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Unfortunately, I cannot answer such specific questions. So it's better to ask them in the Vectorstyler forum, where someone with better knowledge can answer you. But I can say that the splatter and pattern brush only works with vector objects and not with bitmaps. I know that both are possible in Xara. VectorStyler has a few Bitmap effects, but generally it is purely vector graphics based. And I would also say that it is not as fast as Xara. I have a copy of Magix Graphics Designer 16 and 19 (same as Xara) installed here. Which work without any major problems under Win 10. I bought the 16 version very cheaply on Steam. By the way, Black Fryday Sale is coming soon again. Quote
