Okay, just a couple of initial observations re the vanishing Footnotes from some additional testing...

  1. It is very specific to having 'Prevent Widowed Last Lines' enabled in the paragraph prior to the footnotes

  2. It is very specific to the leading set for the main body text in relation to the height of the text frame, i.e.,
    • if the body text uses 13 pt leading then the footnotes are only hidden when the height of the text frame varies by 12.99 pt
    • if the body text uses 14 pt leading then the footnotes are only hidden when the height of the text frame varies by 13.99 pt
    • if the body text uses 15 pt leading then the footnotes are only hidden when the height of the text frame varies by 14.99 pt

So, for example, with @Eisbar's latest sample file, when the paragraph prior to the Footnotes has to 'Prevent Widowed Last Lines' enabled:

  • If the main Body Text (Body 1) leading is set to 13 pt the footnotes are hidden when the height of the text frame is between 654.04 pt and 667.03 pt = 12.99 pt
  • If the main Body Text (Body 1) leading is set to 14 pt the footnotes are hidden when the height of the text frame is between 681.65 pt and 695.64 pt = 13.99 pt
  • If the main Body Text (Body 1) leading is set to 15 pt the footnotes are hidden when the height of the text frame is between 724.65 pt and 739.64 pt = 14.99 pt

So possibly some internal maths needs to be updated in relation to the treatment of 'Widowed Last Lines'...

Excellent work there Hangman, have a kudos. I thought that vertical dimension of the text frame may have been a problem. But I was testing in a different rabbit warren.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

@Hangman I don´t understand this? Why is this very specific? It is normal to avoid Widowed Last Lines - whether the paragraph has footnotes or not! Or do I understand something wrong?

I think @Hangman is giving the programmers a hint as to where to look for the bug and or a solution.

Absolutely, I meant that the bug itself is very specific to having 'Widowed Last Lines' enabled not that you shouldn't have it enabled. This is the bug that needs fixing...
