Grazuncle Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I took a screenshot (Windows key shift + S) which resulted in a .png file in clipboard I opened a new document in Affinity Photo Vs2 with the from clipboard option. I then took the colour picker to take a sample the colour of the background and my image went grey scale! Quote
Grazuncle Posted November 12, 2023 Author Posted November 12, 2023 Aaaah! I usually use Ctrl Z to undo an action but this time I went to the Menus to reverse the action and this is what the program thinks I did with my last action (with the colour picker tool.. ) Undo Set Fill?????? I thought the colour picker just did that.. picked a colour? Quote
Staff NathanC Posted November 12, 2023 Staff Posted November 12, 2023 Hi @Grazuncle, 5 minutes ago, Grazuncle said: I thought the colour picker just did that.. picked a colour? The dedicated colour picker tool highlighted in your screenshot has an 'Apply to Selection' option along the context toolbar which will auto apply the picked colour to your selected object (in this case an image object has been filled). You can optionally turn this setting off with the tool selected to prevent this happening when sampling. 🙂 Info: https://affinity.help/photo2/English.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_clrpicker.html Grazuncle 1 Quote
Grazuncle Posted November 12, 2023 Author Posted November 12, 2023 Thank for that.. I didn't understand the hep page very easily so looked at YT and saw some examples in use.. I took the tick off apply tried it and nothing is picked and then put it back on and now I find that the colour picker ONLY does that (pick a colour).. it no longer colours the image at all. It only does what I thought it did. one extreme to the other LOL 🙈 Quote
thomaso Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Possibly you rather like to use the colour picker of the Colours or Swatches Panel and pick colour and thus save it temporarily to possibly apply it later to any object or to create a new swatch.
