Red Al Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Please dear Affinities, we need the vector cutting tool for Affinity Publisher 2 !!! This is standard in every layout program. How do you want to compete with InDesign? Or have I missed something again and you have hidden this feature in such a way, or have such a strange solution for it, that nobody could figure out how it works? Any tips on how to cut a vector line until the new version is out? Thanks!!! Quote

Red Al Posted November 10, 2023 Author Posted November 10, 2023 No, not helpful. We all know that. The point is that the cutting tool must or should be part of Publisher. Competing programs have this too. Who wants to buy a new program just to cut a vector? Then I would have one more problem child that annoys me. The idea is to get away from Adobe. This is only possible if Affinity offers at least the same features per program. It won't work that way. Any workarounds until then? At the moment I have to convert it into Photoshop. Thank you!!! I am curious just like carl123, what are you trying to cut? A vector with a raster tool? Quote ---------- Windows 10 / 11, Complete Suite Retail and Beta
Red Al Posted November 10, 2023 Author Posted November 10, 2023 As already described. I want to crop/cut a vector: from a circle, a line, a triangle... etc.. Publisher has a "drawing pen" with which I can create a vector. Why shouldn't I be able to crop/cut it afterwards? Hm, I don't understand your questions... P.S. google Vector. Vectors are not rasterized. Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Sorry, but from your earlier "we all know that" response I'm not sure you understood the comment. If you also own Designer, then Publisher also has the Knife tool. You just need to switch to the Designer Persona. So, you certainly wouldn't need to pay a monthly fee to get a knife tool, you just need to buy the additional application in the Affinity suite if you don't already own it. And if you do already own it, you just need to switch Personas to do that operation. loukash and Frozen Death Knight 2 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Obi Two Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 @Red Al I think the closest thing you can do is create a shape with a pen and then make it the colour of your intended background. Or convert the shape into an image frame and drop the image you have behind the object into that new shape so that it appears to be behind it. But I'm with you. I don't understand why the pen can't toggle to be a knife. (If Affinity Publisher is supposed to mimic Adobe InDesign.) Quote
