UweN Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) Hello, I don't understand how the Publisher causes this difference/error in the exported PDF. On 7 October I exported a brochure as a PDF. The PDF has the size of 147MB. Everything is OK. - see screenshot. Today I exported the same Afpub file again as a PDF and received a faulty PDF (194MB) - see screenshot. The font is Arial bold. I tested it today with the current (2.1.1) and the beta (2114) version. Can someone explain to me where the cause of the error lies? What other information can I provide to find the cause? Thanks in advance, Uwe Win11Pro, 23H2, i7-13700, 64GB RAM, Gforce 1050Ti Update: I have created a new document (a blank page) and written a few words in Arial Bold, exported to PDF - same error. Staff Callum Posted November 9, 2023 Staff Posted November 9, 2023 Hi UweN, Please could you provide a copy of the Affinity project file in question so I can try exporting it here at my end? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
UweN Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Hello, here is a afpub test file and the pdf. regards, Uwe Arial_test.afpub Arial_test.pdf Quote
Oufti Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 It is possibly related to your version for Arial Bold. Type 1 fonts are generally deprecated (cf. e.g. this article). I don't know if it is system-wide with Windows or not… Quote Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To I apologise for any approximations in my English. UweN Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Hello, I use FlexiPdf for the PDF files. I've created a new empty page inserted text with the format Arial Bold and regular. No problems in the saved PDF document. The same with Libre Office. Regards, Uwe Quote
Staff Callum Posted November 9, 2023 Staff Posted November 9, 2023 Hi UweN, This file seems to be exporting fine here for me I wonder if Oufti might be right is this the standard Arial that came pre installed on Windows? If possible could you provide a copy of the font file? Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
