Hi.

Found something looks like a bug.

Placing a linked file where only small part is design. Rest of document is blank.
As linked file, it behaves as the entire page is a design. When doing export, it is not possible to do transparent png with only the design, just entire spread. The workaround would probably to make the linked document transparent, which may cause other issues down the line. As these are many files working for different purposes.

Next option would be Export Persona which works better. in this scenario. But the slice is not able to do exact selection of the design (6x6cm). Even when setting the slice exact same size as the design. Also when both design and slice is set to center same sizes, the slice is not 100% centring. Not much though.

Guess the best solution would be to have option in perhaps Resource Manager, of only linking the design and not the entire document. As when there are to linked documents, it is not possible to select the layer below with selection tool, but of course possible in Layers Panel. Hopefully this can be looked into and perhaps fixed.

Thank you.

Can you tell us what kind of linked file you're using, and provide an example file you're having trouble with? Perhaps also a screenshot of the complete application window with the Placed file selected?

Thanks for getting back to me.

It's a 6x6 cm square with added design linked on top.
I made two new test links including a test file with both files linked, for you to look at.

You'll probably have to re-link in Resource Manager.
It also shows that Export Persona refuses adapt to cm, and that slice will not center 100%. As well as showing the issue explained in original explanation above where can not direct select layer below as it interprets files as entire document.

Hope this helps. Found somewhat workaround as mentioned earlier, but still hope there is a fix to it.
Let me know if anything unclear.

If you are designing something to be exported as PNG files then you must work with Pixels as the Units of Measurement. Basically the metric system of measurements does not work well, does not translate well, with Pixels per Inch (or Dots per Inch) which is what a PNG will use.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks for ellaborating Bruce.

Tried with pixels as well. Still issue with the slice not centering. But temp workaround to share is to type in 6 cm in the transform field and it will auto adjust to pixel value.
