Steve Wimbledon Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Hi, Just downloaded 2.3.0.2114 and opened several CR2 files in the develop window. All are opening with histogram all crushed towards the dark end. All working fine with Retail version and previous beta (2.3.0.2096) Quote
Staff EmT Posted November 8, 2023 Staff Posted November 8, 2023 Hi @Steve Wimbledon Could you provide a copy of your example file so we can look into this further? Hangman Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Hi @Steve Wimbledon, If you have your Develop Assistant settings set as follows you should find your image displays correctly... Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse
Steve Wimbledon Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Thanks for that, Hangman. Playing side by side AB comparisons this configuration may actually give a slightly better balance. Nice to know I can turn off the default NR. This has been useful. The current public version with settings as before, opened a perfectly balanced result. Can you describe what was changed that necessitated turning off exposure bias and applying a tone curve? Just interested Hangman 1 Quote
Staff EmT Posted November 9, 2023 Staff Posted November 9, 2023 @Steve Wimbledon The setting to Apply tone curve, is what is causing the change as expected. If you read this comment here from James Ritson it should give a better explanation on what is occurring. Just interested Hi @Steve Wimbledon, James Ritson's link provided by @EmT explains it far better than I could so hopefully that helps... Steve Wimbledon Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Many thanks to all of you for your input. Was a decision made to switch off the curve adjustment that was on by default in the previous versions? I had to give up on Exposure X6 a couple of years ago because they couldn’t give me control over their ‘always on’ application of a very clumsy tone curve which kept losing my hi light detail on low light shots. I am an early adopter of Affinity photo and designer and absolutely love the products. To be in on its development like this is very satisfying and enlightening. Support is unmatched. Keep up the good work. Quote
