jordaan Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Was using Topaz 1.7 as a plugin from within Affinity Photo (1.10.6 on Windows 10), upgraded to Topaz Photo AI 2.1.0 - now it crashes when I try to invoke the plugin. Topaz works perfectly when used standalone. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted November 7, 2023 Staff Posted November 7, 2023 Welcome to the forums @jordaan, I've just installed the latest 2.1.0 update for Topaz Photo AI on a Windows 10 machine and confirmed both Photo V1.10.6 and V2.2.1 were both capable of launching the plugin and applying the settings back on the original image in Photo. With it being a problem with a 3rd party plugin crashing it can be quite difficult for us to advise on, but you could try uninstalling your existing version and then download your previous working version from their community forums to verify that it works after setting it up in AFPhoto again. I've found and linked their latest releases forum board below where you're able to download earlier versions. https://community.topazlabs.com/c/photo-ai/photo-ai-releases/85 Failing that, I would suggest also contacting topaz labs directly and if you haven't already raising this on their community forums. jordaan Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 Thank you, I have raised it on their forum as well, but will try your advice. Quote
jordaan Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 Thank you Nathan - after uninstalling, I checked the old verson worked fine. I then uninstalled and installed 2.1.0 (instead of doing the upgrade) and that works fine. Quote

Slightly OT but I have experienced exactly this problem, but with the standalone Topaz Video AI. Several updates to the previous version (3) failed to install properly for me and Topaz Labs support could offer no reason why; downloading and running the full installer of the updated app resolved the problem. I'm currently running the new version 4 and see that 2 updates are available. I wonder whether they will install properly?? Watch this space! Seriously, I wonder whether the fact of @jordaan's experience, along with mine, suggest there may be a problem with the Topaz updaters? Did they install properly? No, so now to download the full installer of the latest version. Quote Win 11 Pro, intel i7 14700, NVidia GTX 4060, 32G RAM, intel UHD 770. Long-time user of Serif products, chiefly PagePlus and PhotoPlus, but also WebPlus, CraftArtistProfessional and DrawPlus. Delighted to be using Affinity Designer, Photo, and now Publisher, version 1 and now version 2. iPad Pro (12.9") (iOS 18.2) running Affinity Photo and Designer version 1 and all three version 2 apps.
