DumbMonkey Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Device name: Surface-Laptop Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11300H @ 3.10GHz 3.11 GHz Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable) System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch: Pen and touch support with 10 touch points Edition: Windows 11 Home Version: 23H2 OS build: 22631.2506 Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22677.1000.0 Problem as per title, the program is unusable. Things tried - multiple reinstalls, resetting the app, CTRL when starting (crashing then too). Happens on both my main computer (Win 10) and laptop (Win 11). Happens in version 1 and version 2 including the customer beta version. Searched for crash logs but none in the user folder under Affinity/crash logs. Just hangs for about 5 seconds then disappears. What is the refund policy? as it is utterly unusable. Quote
Dan C Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Hi @DumbMonkey, Welcome to the Affinity Forums & sorry to hear you're having trouble! Can you please confirm for me, do you have PowerToys from Microsoft installed on your PC? Many thanks in advance Quote
DumbMonkey Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 No, and the issue persists across both my desktop and laptop computers. I've tried most of the solutions I can find in the forum. It's strange because it worked for about a week, then stopped. As I say one computer is Windows 10 one is Windows 11. The only software they have in common is the various Windows components that win 10 and 11 share, Spotify, printer drivers (it's a brand-new to me laptop) so fairly clean. I haven't checked the licence but I didn't bother uninstalling the desktop one before installing on the laptop... maybe something to do with that? Quote
Dan C Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I'm sorry to hear this - I was specifically asking regarding PowerToys as we're aware of a bug in the latest PowerToys version that causes Affinity to 'lock up' when any UI is selected, and this sounded very similar to your report. I'd like to request some further information from you to try and determine the cause of this issue. Firstly, please open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) then paste the following string, depending on which Windows version you have installed, and press OK: Affinity MSIX - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Designer\2.0\ Affinity EXE - %appdata%\Affinity\Designer\2.0\ In the window that opens, please select log.txt, then attach this to your reply here. Secondly, in the same folder as above, please open CrashReports and then reports - if any reports have been generated, they will be found here. Please attach the latest 3 .DMP reports from this folder if any are available. Finally, I'd like to request a copy of your event viewer log, to generate this please do the following. 1. Open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) and type the following - eventvwr 2. In the window that opens, select the Windows Logs drop-down list on the left and then Applications 3. With the Applications logs selected, navigate to the right side of the window and select Save All Events As... and save them as .evtx (the default option). 4. Attach this saved file to your reply here. Can you also please confirm that none of the following apps are installed on your PC? Your reply should hopefully include the log.txt, the 3 most recent .DMP crash reports, and the .evtx event viewer log. Many thanks in advance! Quote
BotchTV Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I have seemed to solve the problem by deleting the affinity folder from my PC and reinstalled it creating a whole new folder. It has seemed to have fixed the problem for me at least. Dan C 1 Quote
