bladeuk13
I am new to Affinity Designer and after my online research I wasn't able to find a solution. So I hope someone out there can help me. I have a PNG file and I am trying to have a transparent background (White at the moment) so I can place my image in any other contest. Thanks
JimmyJack
Is your Logo all black? And, do you have Affinity Photo (not necessary, but it would be a step or two easier)?
bladeuk13
Hello JimmyJack No is not, and the picture is in BW. No I don't have Affinity Photo (I read somewhere that it was easier too) Also I did struggle with cropping as well after selecting a specific area. I read different solution here and they were "way around it" for the whole document. Thanks for the response and hope you can help

JimmyJack
Okay, so not too terrible a task. At least you're only dealing with straight lines. 1) with the pen tool draw a shape around the whole collage. No stroke, all black fill. 2) In the layers panel, drag that shape on top of the thumbnail of your image until a vertical blue line appears next to the thumbnail. Drop it there. You should now have a transparent background. 3 ) If you want to reintroduce a drop shadow.... With the image thumb selected hit the FX button. Select Outer Shadow. Play with those settings. (I will say this though, The resolution of the images isn't super terrific. But that's a whole other conversation.) bladeuk13
bladeuk13
I just did a quick test and it worked fine. Yes I was lucky that the line were straight. I did straggle thought to find the vertical blue line. Anyway now I know. Thank you for your help
