I'm an occasional user of Affinity Photo 2, so I'm not totally sure when exactly this issue appeared, but it must have been in the last months. I recently got a new camera and lens (Canon EOS R6 Mk II + Sigma 24-70mm F2,8 DG OS HSM) and could apply lens correction to my images through the Develop persona's Lens tab. Some weeks ago, I wanted to develop several images from that same camera and lens, but suddenly, Affinity was telling me that "a lens profile [...] could not be selected automatically" for the picture in question. I then wanted to select my lens manually but had to notice that I could not open the drop-down menu with the different Lens Profiles.

I then opened the LensProfiles folder through Affinity Photo's settings: `Settings... > General > Open Lens Profiles Folder in Finder`. The folder was empty.

Unfortunately, I could not find a resource to download the base Affinity Photo 2 Lens Profiles, so I'm hoping to find solutions for my issue through the knowledge of the AP user base. The differences between my last edits (with the possibility to perform lens corrections) and the current state are the update to Affinity Photo 2.2.1 (from 2.1.1) and the macOS update to macOS Sonoma.

I removed and reinstalled the app once through the Mac App Store and once via download from https://store.serif.com/, none of which resolved the issue.

Thank you, Walt, for sharing this thread!

I downloaded the Beta 2.3.0 (2096) to test it out. The correct lens is still not selected automatically, but at least I can open the dropdown again and select it manually. So the current Beta solves part of the issue but there's still something missing.

Are your camera and lens in the list of supported cameras/lenses?

No, unfortunately not. This really is a shame!

The R6 Mark II is one of the most sold semi-professional bodies, and it's available for a year now. How is it possible that Serif does not support such a well-adopted and important camera? The same goes for the lens.

There are two SIGMA 24-70 lenses available, but none of them is the widely used SIGMA 24-70mm F2,8 DG OS HSM of the Art series. I'm currently selecting Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM, and it seems to work relatively well for the DG OS as well, but I guess it's not optimal as this profile was not optimized for the lens in question.

I hope that Serif will extend its body and lens support soon!

Affinity Photo uses (primarily) the Open Source LibRAW package for its RAW file support and LensFun for its lens support. So it only gets new cameras and lenses when they are available from those products. Note that for lenses, LensFun provides instructions for how you can request that they add a lens, and also instructions on how you can perform the calibration yourself. If you do that, then you can submit your calibration data to them for inclusion in their database, and add it to your own copy of Affinity Photo.
