Sempervivum Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Hi there, I need to adjust about 300 photos with the tonemapping persona. Usually I do so by recording a macro and then apply it in the batch processing. I read these instructions: but it does not work for me: I get the error message "tonemapping cannot be recorded" when recording the macro. Is there any way I can apply the tonemapping to a bunch of photos? Quote
Staff NathanC Posted November 2, 2023 Staff Posted November 2, 2023 Hi @Sempervivum, The post you've linked was from March 2017, The ability to enter the tone mapping persona while recording a macro was disabled back way back in V1 likely due to a number of outstanding issues (I believe in a V1 update later that same year) so it wouldn't be possible to follow those instructions any longer unfortunately. There's a known issue currently logged with the toast message displaying incorrectly whilst recording a macro advising to 'please select an RGB pixel layer' when this should be a 'Cannot record' message, so this is likely the error you're seeing but the inability to access the persona while recording remains the same. You may be able to somewhat speed up the tone mapping process by creating presets from within the tone mapping persona for a quicker application, but i'm not aware of any alternative methods to batch tone map images unfortunately, perhaps another forum user might be able to share a workflow. 🙂 R C-R 1 Quote

As (I think) I mentioned in another topic I get the incorrect 'please select an RGB pixel layer' message when I try recording the macro, so I wonder why @Sempervivum is getting the correct 'cannot be recorded' message instead. Any idea why that is? Any idea why that is? Good spot, there's actually two separate issues logged internally per OS which are linked/related which I hadn't noticed earlier. On MacOS you get the incorrect 'Select an RGB Pixel Layer' message, but there is also a separate issue logged for Windows where it does allow you to enter the persona while recording but after you press 'Apply' it will prompt the 'Cannot record Tone map' toast and anything you did in the persona is not recorded. Windows definitely has it worse of the two, as it allows you to enter the persona only to tell you you've wasted your time after applying, I'll bump this issue. R C-R 1 Quote
