KarinC Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Designer 2.2.1, Windows 10 I want to create some torn paper styles with a pixel layer inside an object. I created my own style category. When I save a style from selection I could get two to save but without the pixel layer. I can't seem to add any more styles if they are modified from one of the styles or even if I make a new one from scratch. Maybe because they all seem to be the same since the pixel layer isn't being recognized? I decided I could make a separate document with different styles but when I 'copy' then 'paste style' the pixel layer isn't included. Is this normal? Should I be doing something different with the pixel layer. Quote
GarryP Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 A Style contains the Strokes, Fills, Colours and Properties which can be applied to other things, they cannot contain layers. I think you might want to use Assets (and/or Symbols) instead of Styles. Quote

Below in … #26 an image as bitmap fill, created from a rectangle object (note, the rectangle is not part of the style), #27 is created from a copy of the rectangle used for #26 but with another fill, #29 is created from a copy of the rectangle (i.e. same fill) but with an added stroke. (that the fill of #29 doesn't appear in the Styles Panel is an UI issue). I can apply every three fills to new created objects in a new document. KarinC Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) Thanks thomaso, I will try making the brush layer in pixel persona, export it as a png and then use it as a fill. Alternately I can brush it in every time I use it but then I would almost have to save a brush with the color I used so I can remember what color I used. Can I do that? Edit: It worked exporting the pixel layer to a png then use it as a fill. Edited November 1, 2023 by KarinC update Quote

A pixel layer placed in a document is an image layer. Image Layers can be converted to a Curves layer (Layer > Convert to Curves) A style can then be created from that (now) Curves Layer Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. KarinC Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 I can't seem to convert a pixel layer to curves. It's on its own layer, not clipped to an object. Convert to curves is grayed out under layer. Quote
