Affinity Designer v2.2.1 resize crash

Hi all,

I’m on Affinity Designer (AD) v2.2.1 and I keep having these crashes whenever I try to change the unit when resizing any of my files, just after 2 taps then AD would crash.

I’m on Ipad M2 Pro with 2TB storage, 16GB RAM, iOS 16.6.1, with only AD and Chrome running so I don’t think it’s a RAM thing.

All my files are in 300 dpi so nothing too crazy, but the crash happens to all the files regardless (please see video for reference, I only filmed 3 files for smaller attachment size but it happens to all files.)

I will also attach below the 3 most recent crash report I can gather using the tutorial.

Of course I’m on AD trial but I do plan to purchase it after the trials. However the inability to resize is making me rethink my decision as it is a crucial function to me

So far I saw another user also getting the same issue with his Affinity Photos since 17th OCT and still no solutions yet, his configuration is different than mine yet we have almost the same issue.

I hope this can get resolve soon

This is a known issue currently logged with the developers, changing the re-size mode from Document to Canvas and then subsequently adjusting the unit of measurement causes the re-size sliders on the left hand size to break, and then attempting to change the UOM again will then cause the app to crash. This is a regression which appears to have been introduced in 2.2.0/2.2.1, I've now bumped the existing issue with your report.

As a workaround, before changing the resize mode to Canvas, keep it on 'Document' and then change to your desired unit, and then change back to canvas to make the size adjustment and apply it.

The issue "[iOS] Changing Resize settings breaks UI or crashes app" (REF: AF-912) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.4.0.2279".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
