I have this preference checked as I normally like to name my layers and groups as I go, but I often group for a temporary operation, only to ungroup right afterwards. I wud be nice to have a keyboard override, like adding Option modifier, to Group without asking for name...

I found that to be a problem too at first, but then I noticed that pressing Cancel actually creates the group without the name, so it is possible to bypass it, although a bit hidden and unintuitive.

Yes those are great workarounds, but they're all still another step.... wud be nice to have a keyboard modifier built-in to do the opposite of the App's preference for this setting, so if you have it set to NOT to ask to name new groups, with the modifier it WOULD ask you, as well as the behavior specified in the OP ...
