Edit text style doesn't refresh bulleted/numbered paragraphs with an applied style

This isn't new, it's this way in v1, too.

  1. Type a few list items
  2. Using Paragraph > Bullets and Numbering, set Type to any bullet or number option but numbers are easier to see
  3. Select Emphasis from the Style list in this panel section - with default styles the numbers should now be italic
  4. Edit Emphasis and make a visible change such as colour
  5. The list bullets or numbers won't change. Even if you type more items in the list they won't have the revised Emphasis style. Even if you save, close, and re-open the document they won't have the revised Emphasis style. The only way to update them is to re-select Emphasis in the Bullets and Numbering section of the panel

Hi @MikeTO,

How are you editing the Emphasis Text Style, for me there is no option to do so., only to create a new style...

Hi @Hangman, I have just tried this by editing from the text styles panel

The numbering I tested updated as expected, I was getting a live update as I moved around the colour wheel, I am on Monterey so possibly a Sonoma problem

I must admit, I was expecting to see something more akin to this in the Paragraph panel for editing the Text Style...

I can see what @MikeTO is saying in that following his instructions (using Text Styles to Edit Emphasis) does exactly what his steps say on Monterey as well. The only way I see a live update to the numbering is if Emphasis is specified as part of the Text Style itself, i.e., if you either edit an existing Bullet text style or create a New text style and make Emphasis the style for the bullets and apply that to your numbered/bulleted text...

That is how I read it from Mike’s instructions

It is the way I have always edited numbers & bulleted styles, I was not aware of another way

@MikeTO Thanks for the report, I've passed this over to the developers.

FYI I just noticed it's the same for drop caps and initial words which have the same character style option.
