Brettha Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 In V2 for ipad, When I try and select an object, I get a tiny part of the object. Sometimes a node. Where did the ability to select an object by double clicking go? I had everything set up perfectly but then I had other erratic behavior problems forcing me to get a new ipad. Word to the wise, use ONLY MAC CHARGING BRICKS. Please HELP! Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 I don't remember ever double-clicking to select an object. One click should suffice. Brettha Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 As you can see from this short recording, the only way I can select an object is to use the layers panel and click on the entire objects contents. I cannot click, double click or triple click on an object to select it in its entirety. I am asking for help. Please. RPReplay_Final1698696511.mp4 Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Part of the time you were using the Nodes tool, which probably isn't what you want. Part of the time you were using the Move tool, which probably is what you want. But if by "complete" object you mean the Group that the Curve objects are in, then you need to change the Context Bar box that says Objects into (I think, Groups). If you mean to be selecting the individual Curve objects, rather than the Group, then I'm not sure what's going on. In part because you're moving very quickly around in that video. A simpler video, or a sample file, or a simpler video with a sample file, might help me. Or preparing a simpler sample file might help you figure out what's happening Sorry I can't offer more at this time. Brettha Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 I’ve tried to slow this down. I am mindful of using the move tool, but as you can see, the only way I can select the group is with the layers panel. That’s great, however it’s not how I prefer to work. I like to select the motif or group from the art board. This has never been a problem before. I cannot understand what is wrong or what has changed. Please help. RPReplay_Final1698699534.mp4 Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Thanks for the new recording. Unfortunately I'm still unsure what's happening. Can you share a sample file that can also show the problem? Brettha Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 It’s very simple, sending the file is not going to help explain what I’m trying to do although it may give you an opportunity to see the problem first hand and try and accomplish what I want to do, although it doesn’t seem like you even think there’s a problem. So I’m trying to edit and move different aspects of art board 1 that will reflect in changes in art board 2. I like to edit and move these aspects (motifs, objects composed of curves, whatever you want to call it) from within the art board rather than by using the layers menu. I used to be able to double click on the individual components to select them and make the changes. Now I cannot do this. I see you are a member. Do you work for affinity? Quote

That's because I don't have a problem when I try it with my files. Maybe, if you can share a file where you have the problem, I will be able to duplicate what you're seeing. Or explain it. Or figure out why I'm not seeing it. emmrecs01 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Staff DWright Posted November 1, 2023 Staff Posted November 1, 2023 With the auto-select on the context toolbar set to Groups then when you double tap an object only the whole group will be selected you will need to select Default or objects to select the objects, if you doble tap a curve rather than a fill the the node tool will be selected rather than the move tool.
