I have a repeating pattern. I need extra width on the top and bottom for cutting and printing purposes. I have all the snapping buttons enabled. I the duplicated illustration is on the top and bottom. Why is there still a small space in-between the illustrations???? The lines are still there even after I save as a JPEG or PNG

Hi @j-cat,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Sorry to hear you're having trouble! Can you please attach a copy of your Affinity document here so that I can investigate further?

If you'd like a private upload link for this file, please don't hesitate to ask!

Many thanks in advance!

@j-cat, in case you don't know "pixel perfect" means the X, Y, W, & H values of each item are all integer numbers (have no fractional values). To make sure of this, first set Settings > User Interface > Decimal Places for Unit Types for pixels to at least 3, set the document units to Pixels, & then select each item & refer to the Transform panel to check those values.

You can also enable the Snapping Force Pixel Alignment (but not the Move by Whole Pixels!) option to help with this, but note that it will not automatically move everything to integer values so you would still have to do that for each object by moving it slightly with the Move Tool.

@R C-R Hi. Thanks for your reply. I think (?) I did what you said but the problem is still there.

In your second screenshot your "Y" value is 80.5px there should be no decimal places for any of the X,Y,W,H values

Please check (and correct) that for all 3 of your layers then try repositioning the layers so they snap in place

If that does not fix it, once uploaded to the Dropbox link the support staff will get back to you

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

It doesn't do anything. The only thing that works is if I manually take out the .5 which is a bit inconvenient.

Yes, it must be - see "Pixel perfect" in the first post.

Just to confirm, I requested a copy of your file in order to check the X & Y / H & W positionings of the layer - as mentioned above these need to be on 'whole' pixel values in order to avoid the line shown in your screenshot.

If you're still having trouble after editing these layers to be on 'whole' pixel positionings, please do let me know and I can provide the link, so that I can check your file directly and offer my suggestions :)

What doesn't do anything? If you mean enabling Force Pixel Alignment, like I said doing that will not automatically move everything to integer values so you would still have to do that for each object by moving it slightly with the Move Tool.

IOW, it applies to future alignment actions but not to anything already done.
