sgroup Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Hello dear support / board members! First and foremost I would like to thank you for all the Affinity suite, especially Publisher which I'm currently using to create ebooks. Unfortunately something is going wrong with Table of Contents. I created and formatted the whole book: main text is BODY chapter names are HEADING 1 subchapters are HEADING 2 Then I tried to create Table of Contents at the beginning of my ebook. I created one, I've chosen to include only HEADINGS 1 and 2, and at first sight the ToC looks good. There are only chapters and subchapters, and they work as hyperlinks to certain pages as well. So far, so good. I'm exporting it as PDF and then I open it in Preview (I work on MacOS). The Preview software shows me BOOKMARKS that are totally messed up. There are HEADINGS and BODY mixed as table of contents bookmarks, and I couldn't do anything about that. I tried to export several times, I double or triple checked if my BODY text doesn't have HEADING attributes as well, but no, everything looks totally fine in Affinity Publisher, but it exports in a weird way. Please help because I don't know what to do with that! Have you had any problems like that before? Maybe you have seen such a behavior before and have fix for that. Of course I can uncheck "Include as PDF bookmarks) but then I don't have table of contents bookmarks, and they are vital for anyone who reads books on ebook readers and so on. Please help! I use Affinity Publisher 2.2.1 on MacOS Quote
MikeTO Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Hi @sgroup and welcome to the forums. If a paragraph of body text appears as a PDF bookmark, it is one of two things: 1. You might have an anchor for that paragraph set to export as a PDF bookmark. Check your Anchors panel. 2. That body text is actually formatted with a heading style. Could you upload one page of the document, the one you've shown a screenshot of, so we can review it? Good luck Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
