hey all, thanks for any help here.
Just purchased affinity 2 suite, and have opened up designer to start checking it out.  I have a document that I will turn into a template, with several artboards that has 1 item of artistic text on each artboard. Nothing fancy.

I started with turning the grid on, by choosing show grid in the view menu and nothing happens. I've tried changing to a preset grid, I toggled to basic, advanced, cube, changed the colour of the grid, all in the grid and snapping axis dialogue box but none of them seem to turn the grid on. Even trying this in the .aftemplate version of the document I have saved doesn't appear to work. I don't know what to take of a screenshot of to display what I mean. Hope this is fairly straight-forward.

Also, I turned the rulers on and tried to drag out a vertical rule. When I dragged the rule over the artboard, the rule was cut off towards the top of the document and the x axis read x-10180.2px. The horizontal ruler doesn't even show. I have supplied a screen shot of the vertical axis, but the horizontal rule doesn't show, so supplying that probably wouldn't help. It's a little hard to see in the screenshot, so I marked a label in red to so you don't have to zoom in.

I have not altered any of the settings at all, except what I outlined above. This is a fresh "out of the box" install and my first look, as I said. Is this meant to be the default on the program? If it is, how do remedy? Or is this a bug? I really don't mess with windows 10 settings at all to think that any windows settings would be affecting designer (and publisher it seems, so I assume photo as well). Can anyone help please?

I am guessing that you would need to select Artboard 1 in the layers panel before dragging a guide onto it. As your screenshot shows you have the offscreen (?) Artboard 5 selected.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

thanks @Old Bruce nailed it. Looks like a rookie error. And looks I've just sorted the grid problem out with your suggestion for the rules. I would have thought selecting show grid would drop in some sort of default, but setting a colour and selecting the artboard I want to target seems to have dropped it in for me. Do you work over there? You need a raise...
