Help with photo.

Recommended Posts

Hello members.
I have a photo that I would like to add some snow or look frozen. this basket I would like to put this on the lower part of the basket, any suggestions for that? It's because I'm making a Christmas basket and wanted to see what it might look like before I put it on since it can't be taken off again.
Hope someone can help here.

Best regards

Westlin

p.s. hope this is the right place to ask?

If you have sufficient artistic skills you could use brushes to paint the snow onto the basket but getting everything to look realistic would be tricky.

An alternative could be to find a snow texture which covers the whole photo and then mask out the bits of the texture which you don’t want.

See attached image where I have very quickly and crudely added a black grit texture, inverted it, duplicated it with some transformation, and then masked out the bits I don’t want snow on.

A quick search of the web for snow texture png will get you various options.

But, as R C-R said above, getting it to look realistic might be difficult and/or time consuming.

What type of snow / frozen look? – A simple sample: 1 brush | opacity 90% | inner shadow.

What makes this more difficult to achieve than it needs to be in the basket photo is how that photo is lit, with the light coming from the side so most of the snow would be in the shadowy area on the right & much less bright than in the brightly lit area on the left.

So if possible it would be a good idea to take another photo of it with more even lighting & use that instead.
