I have just spent about 40 minutes editing an image and the App crashes. I relaunched the App and there is no recovery file so I have to start again. This happens far too frequently. Please Affinity sort this out.

The option to recover the file can be offered in two ways:

  1. If you were working on a file that had not previously been saved: you will be asked about recovery when you restart the application after it crashes. This will only occur, of course, if you've been working on the application longer than your File Recovery Interval Setting within the application (under Performance; default is 5 minutes).

  2. If you were working on a file that had previously been saved and given a name: you will be asked about recovery when you reopen that file. This could occur during File > Open or during File > Open Recent but it will not happen simply because you restart the application unless you have the application Settings set to automatically reopen files you were working on. (And even that is more complex on Mac, because there are macOS System Settings that also apply and determine what gets reopened.)

So, if you had previously Saved that file, you may be able to simply Open the Saved file again, and get the recovery option. That would get you closer to where you were, to within the last 5 minutes (by default).
