Hi all, I swapped over to Publisher from InDesign this year and while I love the Publisher experience for the most part there are definitely a few tools I miss.
One of my clients has asked me to make a series of books that collate images and text from their eco-tourism ventures and the idea of manually captioning over 1200+ images 2 or 3 times isn't something I'm looking forward to doing. InDesign's captioning tool would've made this a little less painful but I was a bit surprised to learn that Publisher has nothing like this, despite it being suggested multiple times when the program was in V1. Are there any plans to add a way to pull text from image metadata even if it isn't necessarily a captioning tool?

Thanks.

You can use Xnview to collect your exif data and then use datamerge

Xnview

Go to Create-->File listing...
- Use the green + to add a field.
- Use the right triangle arrow, and choose the exif data you want to be present in the result
- repeat these steps
You will get a text file containing columns for each field you added
Save as in csv file.

Publisher

Prepare your pictures frames, design, text frames for fields

and then use Datamerge tool.
