Emoji & Symbols replacement phrase bug

The Emoji & Symbols window works fine but if you type a replacement phrase that matches a valid character it runs into issues. We're supposed to be able to type "heart", choose Emoji & Symbols, and double-click a symbol in the popup suggestion window.

  1. Type a replacement phrase such as "heart" or "thumbs up" into a text frame. Do not enter a trailing space
  2. Choose Emoji & Symbols. Affinity will inset a duplicate copy of the replacement phrase and macOS will underline when showing the popup suggestion window: "heartheart"
  3. Double-click a symbol in the popup - Affinity will replace the duplicate copy so you'll be left with something like "heart❤️"

And:

  1. Type a replacement phrase such as "heart" or "thumbs up" into a text frame. This time type a trailing space
  2. Choose Emoji & Symbols. The popup suggestion window will be shown.
  3. Double-click a symbol in the popup - Affinity will insert the emoji but you'll be left with the original replacement phrase, something like "heart ❤️"

Hi @MikeTO,

Are you referring to the new Sonoma-specific 'Add emoji as you type' feature here...

Yes, I didn't realize it was new in Sonoma.

My 'guess' (and it's very much a guess) is that because the new predictive emoji feature is a Sonoma-specific feature (i.e., mirroring what iOS does), it's effectively 'not yet supported' in Affinity apps. However, I could equally be completely wrong about that... :)

I'm sure someone in the moderation team will be able to enlighten us...
