80sTherapy Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Hello, I am trying to create an infinity symbol with a 6 color gradient (white > blue > purple > brown > black > red) that would follow the symbol itself where the red fades into the white portion. The method I use to create the infinity symbol is to draw a circle with no fill, increase the stroke, convert to curves and move the side node and convert it to a sharp point, thus create a sideways tear-shaped object of sorts. I then duplicate it and flip it horizontally to create the second half of the infinity symbol. Lastly, I expand the stroke of both shapes. So far, so good. I'm just not sure how to achieve the gradient so it follows the path of the infinity symbol in a figure 8 linearly, but at the correct angle while having the last color (red) blends into the first one (white). Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Quote
v_kyr Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Not sure if I understood the way of flood correctly, but for an infinity sign ... Infinity symbol ... there are several ways to create one, either by reusing font characters, or by own drawing. For a linear gradient applied as a fill on that you distribute the color nodes accordingly. For 6 colors plus that red-to-white fade you would then probably use 6+1 = 7 color nodes ... gradient1.afdesign Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
