I cannot open files from OneDrive in Affinity Designer. All comments and answers I found here are saying, OneDrive needs to be available in the files app, then it will also show up in Affinity. However, not on my iPad. I have the latest version of the OneDrive app and Affinity Designer 1.10.7.

The first screenshot is from the files app. You can see OneDrive is available as a storage location. The second one with the dark background is from the Affinity app. As you can see, OneDrive is not offered as a storage location that I can add.

In the files app, if I select an .afdesigner file stored on OneDrive, it offers me to open it with Designer, but when I tap the option, it simply does nothing.

Any idea what could be wrong?

In Files, did you tap on OneDrive and respond to the prompt to turn it on?

Thank you for your reply, @walt.farrell

I don‘t have that prompt - maybe I had it long ago when I set up OneDrive. When I tap on OneDrive, my OneDrive folders are displayed on the right. So it is available and I can access all my OneDrive content from the file app - but not from Affinity Designer unfortunately.

Any other idea?

Sorry; no other ideas. After tapping "Turn on" the OneDrive entry appeared in my Designer 2 app when I'm using Open, and I'm able to look at files there.

Perhaps uninstall OneDrive and reinstall, and then Turn On? That's my only guess at this point.

Welcome to the forums @Digit89,

I'm also observing the same behaviour as Walt, after tapping 'Turn on' in the Files app and signing into my Onedrive account, the Onedrive location has become accessible when using either the Import/Open from Onedrive options in Photo V1.

I would also recommend just doing a standard removal/reinstall of Onedrive and re-enable it as Walt's suggested, and failing that repeat the same with the Affinity Photo app.

Note: Before re-installing Photo, save any 'live documents' within the Photo app to your iPad Files app/Storage, and make sure to backup any files stored in the 'Affinity Photo' folder in Files/iCloud, as this folder gets deleted when the app is removed, as well as any live docs that were not saved as .afphoto files to your iPad.

Thank you, @walt.farrell & @NathanC. I found the root cause for the behavior, and unfortunately it cannot be fixed by reinstalling. My iPad is managed by the company I'm working for. I am allowed to install and use 3rd party apps like Designer but they are blocked from accessing company data. Company data is stored on OneDrive. The blocking mechanism works on app level unfortunately, not on account level. That's why Designer has no access to OneDrive on my device.

The workaround that I found for myself now is to use a different cloud provider for my private Affinity data which is not used in my company as well. Not my preferred solution, but it works.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
