Hi @Iztok,

How has the tree graphic been created and brought into Publisher, is it a placed Designer file or a placed file using a different file format and if so which file format is the graphic?

Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3
MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse
HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Is this relevant, it suppose to work anyway, object and colour is not linked, also when I change values for specific colour the numbers of colour must be change in swathes, the same problem is in object and also in text colour, so it is not issue if object is copied from Designer

Hi @Iztok,

Thanks for confirming this is also happening with the text as well... The file format is very relevant and will possibly explain the problem.

Could you perhaps upload a sample file where you're experiencing the issue so we can take a look otherwise we're just going to be guessing at possible causes rather than providing any helpful advice to solve the problem...

Hi @Iztok,

Many thanks for your file...

There is nothing that I can see that is immediately wrong with the file and for me selecting the graphic or the text and using the colour sliders to change the colour is working as expected...

The colour value of your graphic isn't shown in your swatches palette (unless you've renamed it manually), i.e., the green of your graphic and text is C:80 M:30 Y:80 K:20.

I think it would be very helpful if you could upload a quick screen recording showing your complete UI including the layers panel and colour palette so we can see what might be happening to prevent this from working correctly for you.

Could you also confirm whether you are on Mac or Windows and which version of the OS you're using?

i select object, and select colour, then I change colour, but color in object are change, but numbers of colour value remain of teh privious colour and the colour in swatches are changing, but in selected object doesn't and link between object, swatch palete and numbers are lost

And when i click on object with colour, when I change colour, no colour in swatch panele is shown, because the colour in object and in palete are different and original colour of object is gone. It is wery wise, that when I select colour in object and change the object colour in palete could be change in linked way it help to better see colour in page in large fild for instance in hole page, because in swatch pannel you can't see the effect of colour, because it is too small, the same works colours in InDesign

Hi @Iztok,

Okay, so I see the issue you're having now...

It is perhaps a little misleading in as much as the colour values shown for the swatch are the default name adopted for that swatch when adding it to the swatches palette. Changing the colour values for the swatch won't update the CMYK or RGB values shown for the default swatch name.

It's the equivalent of adding a swatch and naming the swatch 'Red' and then changing the colour of the swatch to yellow, the swatch name won't change from 'Red' to Yellow' because it is simply the name of the swatch. You would have to physically rename the swatch in the same way you would rename a file if you wanted to change its name.

As soon as you change the colour values for an existing swatch in the swatches panel it no longer has the same colour values as your graphic, it is for all intents and purposes a new swatch which is why it won't be recognised when you click on your original object, i.e., your original swatch no longer exists in the swatches panel.

Fundamentally, you add fixed swatches, with a fixed colour value, give those swatches a name and then apply the relevant swatch to your graphic. As soon as you edit the swatch colour or values the link between the selected graphic and the swatch no longer exists until you re-apply the newly created swatch to the original graphic.

If I have big shape in page and small icon in palete I can't see colour precise, so it is necessary that I can change the colour in swatch and at the same time in page, also numbers of colour must change to proper value. It is example in InDesign. I like Affinity, but some minor inconsistences trouble my work. I laso miss in Designer, path to jpeg and asspecilay picture expand to vector.

I agree and I believe this has been requested before. Colour management is an area many users would like to see improvements made and has been discussed at length in the forums...

Having live swatch value updates would be a very welcome addition and makes perfect sense, hopefully, we will see some improvements to the colour management features across the Affinity apps in a future release.
