DNG Files opened in Affinity Photo 2 Firmware version 2.2.0 open far too dark in develop persona. The current fix is to revert to firmware version 2.0.4 and the photos will retain the correct amount of luminance.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

can you elaborate more what specific dng files cause issues, e.g. Camera brand and specific RAW settings (compressed, uncompressed etc).

Please upload an example.

Please make screenshots of develop assistant settings from V2.2. And V2.04, and check that those are identical, specifically

  • RAW engine
  • apply curves
  • how to show brightness
  • Output format

next, check 32-bit preview settings to be identical.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.

Are your RAW files also too dark? And what dng convertor are you using? Are you applying a tone curve (in Develop Assistant)? My RAW and dng files (from Iridient) have the same degree of darkness.

What do you mean by 'Firmware'? As far as  I am aware, Affinity comes as regular software, not as Firmware, (that is embedded in the hardware).

I assume you mean software version, not firmware version, but regardless, have you checked the Develop Assistant's settings to see if they are the same in V 2.0.4 & V 2.2.0?
