Good day,

I was wondering if I could get some help identifying techniques featured in the included photo. I'm new to Affinity and am working through tutorials on YouTube, but I want to begin to focus-in on learning the type of style I'm after. Can anyone identify the general techniques used in the included photo so I can try to learn them?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

By the look of it I'd say the background was drawn by hand with composite pieces such as the feathers trees and sword being overlayed. There also looks to be some textured brushes used and some overlays for the brighter parts. The text looks to have a texture nested within it. The sword probably has some masking to get it blended near the tip.

It could also have been entirely been drawn by hand with some Ai involvement.

This was created with Gencraft Ai and this prompt: Predominately purple, Sword vertical with very detailed, intricate pattern on blade, feathers scattered and dramatic lighting k4

You can read, in brief,  what the artist of that cover, Franziska Stern, has to say about how she works here: https://www.coverdungeon.com/#about
