Cartoonist Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I am brand new to Affinity Designer and still finding my way around. I was hoping that I'd be able to sketch using the pencil tool, as I've found described on the web. However, the pencil tool is missing from my tools set, and pressing "N" doesn't do anything. Is it hiding somewhere? I've tried all the flyouts on the other tools but without success. Thanks Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. By default it is paired with the Vector Brush Tool, and shares the same spot in the Tools panel. Either icon may appear. You can long-click on the icon, or on the white trianggle, to switch Tools. It is odd that N didn't work, though. If this isn't sufficient, a screenshot of the complete application window might be useful. Cartoonist Posted October 15, 2023 Author Posted October 15, 2023 Hi, and thanks for getting back to me. I've checked through the tools and can't find the Vector Brush Tool either! I'm using Affinity v1.10.6.1665 on Windows 11. Thanks, Ron Quote

I'm using Affinity v1.10.6.1665 on Windows 11. That's Affinity Photo, not Affinity Designer. The different applications have different Tools, and different (though similar, and related) capabilities. But Photo does not have the Pencil Tool (nor the Vector Brush Tool).
