Windows 11 Photo v2 keeps crashing during editing. Today it crashed and now won't relaunch from the taskbar. I tried launching from the Apps list and that doesn't work either. So, now I can't use it.  Any ideas now to resolve this problem, Thanks.

The only way that I can launch the App is from Faststone Viewer.

What are your settings in Faststone Viewer for launching Photo 2?

@RedSnapper If you right click an existing file and select Open With Affinity Photo does it open?

When you use Faststone Viewer to open Photo, does it then remain open until you close it? Can you check the apps Settings > Performance to see if Hardware Acceleration is enabled, if so turn it OFF and restart the app. You can also try resetting the app, hold down CTRL and open, some options should appear, release the key and click Clear.

In faststone I execute a script. StartAfiinity2.bat. It contains "start /b affinityphoto2.exe %1 exit" This is the only way I can launch the app.
exit

I did right click on a file  Open with Affinity Photo 2"  and nothing happens.

I have reinstalled the base version and when it opens it wants to upgrade 2.1. I click Yes and when it finishing installing it crashes. I repeat the process and it wants to upgrade to 2.2 again when it finishes installing it crashes. I launch again by running the script and did some editing but when I ran a macro it crashed.

I turned OFF Hardware Acceleration  and it made no difference.

I still have beta 2.2 installed. I guess that can be uninstalled now?

That looks like you have installed using the MSIX installer, and have created that .bat file to use the App Execution Alias that the installer provides.

If you have an icon/shortcut on the Taskbar that you added for one version of the MSIX-based app, and you perform an update of the application, you need to recreate that icon/shortcut before it will work. However, starting from the Windows Start menu (not some other application you've installed to substitute for the Start menu) should still work.

It would be good to mention this in the FAQ.

I created a video to show that when trying to launch Affinity Photo from the list of Apps nothing happens. I also right click App click More and click Pin to Taskbar and nothing happened.

I just did as above above again snd it worked. I have no idea why it stopped working and no idea why it now works. Thanks for all the help and advice anyway.
