GarryP
Publisher 2.2.0 on Windows 10. When I use the “Go to Spread” context menu item in the Pages Panel, the spread always seems to be centred about the left-hand page when a facing-pages spread has been selected – see attached video where I double-click first then use the menu item. Double-clicking on the spread, either the middle, or left-hand side, or right-hand side centres it nicely, but the “Go to Spread” functionality isn’t as nice. Is this what’s supposed to happen? I did a bit of searching in the forums – searched for go to spread and scrolled down 10 (of 167) pages of results – but couldn’t find anything relevant. 2023-10-11 09-55-59.mp4
MikeTO
Similar on macOS although it will go to the right side if you right-click that side. It won't centre the spread though. R C-R
I get the same results on my Mac, so I think "Go to Spread" actually is implemented as "Go to Page." So maybe this is by design & it is just that the name is incorrect? thomaso
To get the entire spread displayed it is easier to double-click on the page numbers below the thumbnails, instead using the context menu of the wanted spread. GarryP
MikeTO and R C-R: Thanks for checking. It seems like there may be some inconsistencies with this functionality. thomaso: Double-clicking the page number seems to replicate double-clicking the centre of the spread thumbnail, which could be useful at times. I’ve added a suggestion thread for it to be reviewed here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/193073-pages-panel-“go-to-spread”-functionality-seems-to-have-some-inconsistencies/
Staff stokerg Posted October 12, 2023 Staff Share Posted October 12, 2023 Hi @GarryP, Thanks for reporting this. It is a bug, the Go To Spread when you have a facing-page spread selected, should show both in the centre of the screen. I've just got this logged with the Developers GarryP

Apart from the confirmed bug I wonder: What is the use / advantage of this right-click menu option "Go To Spread" when the goal is easier accessible with a double-click on the page numbers? In what situation is the right-click menu selection preferable to double-clicking? I could see a use for a right-click menu entry if it would be "Go To Spread ..." + open a dialog to manually enter any page / spread number. But this option does not exist in the Pages Panel but in the bottom "Spread Navigator" field of the main window or in menu Document > "Go To Page ...". @stokerg, oddly, also … • the "Spread Navigator" zooms to a page (not a spread) if a spread gets typed. • the "Go To Page…" menu option appears to centre the spread, regardless whether a single page or both page numbers (+ comma) of a spread get typed in this field. Among the various interface options there seems to be no way to maintain the current zoom level AND the x coordinate when jumping to another page. This seems to be possible via scrolling or panning manually but not for jumping. (use case: a certain layout item was created with variants on several pages -> you want to compare them with click-jump through the different variations without a change of their position in the document window.)
