MacOS Sonoma 14.0 / Affinity Publisher 1.10.6
Recently, PDFs created in afpub can no longer be edited in afpub and under "Layers" the following appears: No frame texts, just individual letters as curves!
Does anyone have a solution to the problem?

Hi @chris51,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

This will either depend on your PDF export settings, or Import settings within Affinity Publisher.

When exporting to PDF, please double check your current settings under the 'More...' dialog, specifically the Embed Fonts option, as if this is set to 'Text as Curves', you will see the behaviour shown in your screenshot above -

Equally, when importing your PDF I recommend enabling the 2 options highlighted below, as this will allow the Affinity app to attempt to import your PDF text as editable -

I hope this helps!

Are you Opening the PDF or Placing it?

Dan C, thank you for your instructions, which I used before, but it didn't help! Is it perhaps possible that the problems with the PDF engine under MacOS Sonora play a role?

walt.farrell, I open it by clicking on it by pressing the Control key and choosing "open with afpub". Or I drag the pdf directly onto the afpub icon in the dock...

Although possible, we haven't seen any similar reports from other Affinity/Sonoma users, and I'm not seeing the same behaviour here.

Are you able to provide a copy of the Affinity document before you export to PDF, and a screenshot showing your PDF export settings please?

Aaah, just found out the error: old fonts like Meta, The Mix, Bauhaus etc. from MacOS Snow Leopard - Sierra caused this confusion! Fonts such as Helvetica from newer operating systems work perfectly! Thank you for your efforts!

Might it be related to old Type1 (Postscript) fonts?

Since Catalina, Apple doesn't support them anymore.

I apologise for any approximations in my English. It is not my mother tongue.
