When I first downloaded affinity it worked fine until my mac updated to ventura. Then it stopped bringing up the print window. I have uninstalled, updated to sonoma, redownloaded affinity and it still wont bring up the print window. I have tried emailing for help but no one is answering. I need this program to print for my business. I cannot wipe out my operating system and reinstall an earlier version. That is not an option. I dont understand why it isnt working. It literally does nothing when you go to file-> Print. I need help. I cannot afford to buy the windows version to install on my laptop. I shouldnt have to. I dont understand why this isnt an easy fix. I have also updated to the latest version of Affinity as well and still nothing.

Sometimes if you have a second screen connected (or have used one in the past) the print dialogue screen could be showing on that screen

Also, check the (closed) laptop screen if you are using one

Hi @aumcchildren and welcome to the forums,

Undoubtedly asking the obvious here but:

  1. Does the Print Dialog window appear when attempting to print from other software, e.g., Apple Pages or Acrobat Reader?
  2. Does your Printer appear in the Printers & Scanners System Preferences after the OS update?

The print dialog used in the Affinity apps is the macOS Printer dialog so I suspect the issue is Mac related rather than Affinity related.

Welcome to the forums @aumcchildren,

It looks like there was a problem with my colleague replying to you over email as we received a bounce back error originally, they've since replied again to your email which appears to have gone through, but i'll include the proposed solution below:

If you're able to get into the print dialog in another app such as TextEdit or those Hangman's mentioned, try deleting any currently active custom print Presets and ensure that the active preset is set to 'Default Settings' before trying to print in Affinity again. Failing that, try removing the existing active printer(s) in System Preferences and then re-adding the printer again.

Deleting the presets didnt work but when i deleted the printer and added it back on again that seemed to work. The weird thing is, I already did all this before on ventura and it did nothing... Anyway...SOOO glad that it's working again!! Thanks a million! I'll make sure to never update my computer again LOL

For some reason I dont have color management anymore on my pop up for my printer... Any idea why? I need that in order to set my printer to print correctly. Is there something I need to change inside the software?

Good to hear you can now access the print dialog for printing, though I can't say I'm familiar with a Colour Management popup from within the MacOS print menu, might this have been a separate app specific for your printer? If you get this window pop up when printing from other apps it would be helpful if you could provide a screenshot.

Hi @aumcchildren,

I'm unsure which printer you're using but if you go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and select your printer from the list, under Options & Supplies when you click the General Tab is Use Generic Printer Features checked?

If it is uncheck it and see whether you now see the colour management features for your printer.

Note: You may need to reboot your Mac for them to be re-enabled, assuming this is actually the cause of the issue.
